Overview
The goal of this 5+ generation legacy challenge is to stay living in a tiny house for the duration of the challenge. Each new generation should move into a new lot and “start over” in terms of building their tiny home using the skill point feature described below. Your efforts will be rewarded throughout the challenge by allowing you to add more to your tiny home and influence your gameplay.
This challenge offers many different aspects and options that you can pick and choose from. For example, there are suggested color themes for each generation, but these can be ignored. You can place an emphasis on gardening throughout the challenge and adapt the garden to suit each generation. There are also build/decorating themes for each generation if you would like to turn this challenge into a sort of tiny home build challenge.

Rules
The use of money cheats is highly discouraged.
You may use move objects to help with decorating, but use of other cheats or mods or cheats is discouraged.
Your house should be a Tier 1 - Micro Home (32 tiles) or Tier 2 - Tiny Home (64 tiles)
You should minimize how much you “trick” the game in terms of your tiny home tile count. For example, you shouldn’t use the half gable roof to add a false wall to enlarge the floor plan. You may add roofs for visual appeal only. Also you should not create false rooms by moving the enclosing wall in to trick the game into thinking it is not an actual room. You ARE allowed to create outdoor living spaces such as patios and sunroofs.
You may use the 9 key to shrink objects to better fit in your tiny home when furnishing it.
Each generation should have no more than 2 children (It is a tiny house after all). Ignore this rule if a skill point roll directs you to have another child.
You will find that there are no suggested traits for this challenge. This is so you can roll for the traits and not have that effect who can be heir - thus, you are encouraged to roll for random traits for all children.
Of course, any and all rules can be changed and modified for your pleasure as you play through the challenge.
The Garden
One option to add to your gameplay experience is to keep an emphasis on gardening throughout the challenge. You will be adapting what you grow to match each generation. You can focus only or mainly on each pack/garden goal and/or add in the other elements to your liking. You will find the details of each generation garden in this section and then recapped below in each generation.
Generation 1 - You are just getting started, so start up your basic garden full of fresh fruits and veggies that you can use in recipes.
Generation 2 - You have a soft spot in your heart for animals and you want to enrich their lives. You should grow all 4 varieties of catnip. You should also plant and raise a cow plant and keep it as a pet. For an additional challenge, you can grow all the rare plant types including: death flower, money tree, growfruit, U.F.O fruit, trash fruit, pomegranate, orchid, dragon fruit, bonsai buds, and blackberry.
Generation 3 - You have the choice of 3 different more exotic plant paths to pick from depending on what pack(s) you have or want to explore.
3.1 Realm of Magic - Your love for nature has made you curious about harnessing the earth’s powers to create potions. Grow all the plants needed to make these potions including the rare roots that came with ROM (mandrake root and valerian). You’ll also need to grow cherries, apples, potatoes, sage, dragon fruit, parsley, and lemons. It should go without saying, but if you choose this garden type for the generation, you will want to become a spellcaster so that you can create these potions. You may also want to explore other aspects of the ROM game pack as well.
3.2 World Adventurer (Island Living and Jungle Adventure) - Your love for nature creates a calling to the more exotic lands. On your adventures, you collect exotic plants to bring back and add to your garden. From IL you will find: taro root, coconut, kava root, and pineapple. From JA you will find: black beans, avocado, cerebrerries, flutterberries, gutsberries, merryberries, museberries, razzleberries, and vimberries. If you choose this garden type, you may also want to explore other aspects of these packs such as the archeology skill or the cultural skills. There’s also the nature conservationist career in Island Living that would go well with this generation.
3.3 Get To Work/Planet Sixam - Your love of nature brings you to explore other worlds and their ecosystems and plants. You bring back native plants of the planet Sixam to your own garden including: Glow Orbs, Quill Fruit, and Fang Flowers. It is important to note that if you choose this garden type you will want to focus on either the science career or the rocket science skill as reaching level 10 in either of these paths are the only ways of reaching Sixam.
Generation 4 - One way that you express your artistic side is with flower arranging (Seasons). Your garden should mainly be focused around a flower garden. Note that you can still have a flower garden even if you don’t have seasons, you just won’t be able to use your flowers while making flower arrangements. If you haven’t used the bee box in previous generations, you should use it this generation. Of course you can use it in all generations.
Generation 5 - As part of your quest to live a healthy lifestyle, you seek natural remedies to ailments and dive into the herbalism skill. Your garden should contain these herbs and plants from Outdoor Retreat as well as other fruits and vegetables to maintain a healthy diet.
Skilling Up Bonuses
We offer you unique bonuses tied to your sims skill points that they gain as another option to add to your gameplay experience and to make leveling up your skills that much more of something to work for. Below you will find details tied to different levels of skill you reach. You may use as many or few of these rewards as you like.
Building Your Tiny Home Brick by Brick, Skill Point by Skill Point
Each generation, your sim should start out in a tent with no tiny home built yet. Each time a sim gains a skill point, you may add one more square tile to your house (not to exceed whichever size tier you are playing with). So to build a 4x4 room, you will need to have gained 16 skill points. By adding a tile, you add a complete square including the flooring and wall covering of your choice. As your skill levels increase, your tiny house will grow, so you can have more space to add your furniture and decor. This will allow you to slowly build your house, almost like your sim is doing the manual labor to build it. Spouses and children that gain skill points will also contribute to this total.
Level 5 and Level 10 Skill Bonus Rolls
Once you reach level 5 (or level 10) of a skill, use the random generator to “roll” for fun bonus challenges. One re-roll is allowed per sim. These bonuses are meant to further push your gameplay and encourage you to do things that you might not normally do. Use the buttons below to roll for your bonuses!
Generational Goals
The following rules apply for each generation. Feel free to reorder these if you wish.
Generation 1: The Trendy Lifestylist
You fell in love with the idea of tiny living while looking at the cute pictures you see on Simstagram and decide one day to live your dream. You’ll of course write about it, blog about it and post all kinds of cute inspiring pictures of your own. You also love the idea of growing your own organic garden and using the produce to explore new recipes - of course you’ll be adding these to your social media platforms as well!
Color Suggestion: Cinnamon - golden yellow
Architecture Style: Mid-Century Modern
Skills - Your goal is to maximize the following skills: writing, photography, and charisma.
Additional skills for extra challenge: Gardening, Baking, Cooking, Media Production
Career: Social Media
Other/Spouse Careers: Actor/ess, Critic, Style Influencer, Writer
Additional Hobbies: You enjoy baking and gourmet cooking. You like to make fancy meals and then take photos of them.
Gardening: Fruits and Veggies for cooking/recipes
Additional Gameplay Aspects: The most important thing to you is keeping up appearances. You should never have any fights or arguments with family or friends in public. You should avoid embarrassing incidents in public, such as passing out or poor hygiene. Should any of these things occur, your sim must spend 1 full sim day not leaving their tiny home (not even to go to work) in order to recover from their embarrassment. If your sim gets the embarrassed buff, they should hide under their covers or use a similar interaction.
Spouse/Partner: You met your spouse and fall in love. You have similar ambitions of being a social media influencer/personality, but soon find you have different ideas for how to achieve your goals. You start fighting frequently. Divorse is NOT an option. You do your best to play the part of a happy family online and in public, but often fight or do not speak to each other at home.
Generation 2: The Hightech DIYer
Growing up with parents that frequently fought was hard on you so you often sought out peace in your video games growing up. As soon as you become a young adult, you say goodbye to your parents and strike out on your own. You also decide that you enjoyed the tiny house lifestyle, but have ideas for how you can improve upon that lifestyle with technology.
Suggested Color: Blue Moon - Aqua/Turquoise
Architecture Style: Modern or Industrial
Skills - Your goal is to maximize the following skills: Handiness, Programming, Video Gaming
Additional skills for extra challenge: Logic, Media Production, Pet Training
Gardening: Catnip(s) (Cats+Dogs) and Cow Plant. If you would like additional challenge you can try for all rare plants like the death flower.
Career: Engineer or Tech Guru
Additional Hobbies: You also enjoy woodworking and creating furniture and decorations using the woodworking bench. You love pets as well! At least have one cat and/or dog (and if you have the First Pet stuff pack, you can also have a small pet). You should spend some time working with training your pet.
Additional Gameplay Aspects: You should actively seek to fully upgrade all household items that can be upgraded. As money/space allows, you should own some of the highest valued technology. If you own Discover University, you can work on building robots.
Spouse/Partner: Seeing the way that your parents fought and never got along ruined your view on marriage. You took a personal vow to never get married. You do find a loving partner, but you must never marry them.
Generation 3: The Nature Enthusiast
Your parents placed way too much value in technology, in your humble opinion. After becoming a young adult, you decide you want to do tiny living right - by going back to the natural companionship it so easily lends itself to with - a true harmony with nature.
Suggested Color: Mermaid Water - Hunter Green/Dark Turquoise
Architecture Style: Cottage
Skills - Your goal is to maximize the following skills: Fishing, Gardening, and a skill relevant to the garden type you choose (Spell Casting, Archeology, Rocket Science, etc)
Additional skills for extra challenge: Cooking, Flower Arranging
Gardening: Your choice between 3 pathways that will further influence gameplay and skills. 1) Realm of Magic and potion harvestables 2) Island Living and Jungle Adventure exotic plants 3) Get to Work Alien/Sixam plants
Career(s): Conservationist, Gardener, Scientist, Culinary
Additional Hobbies: See the in-depth description of hobbies that go with each of the three different garden type options. You will essentially be choosing from spell casting, archeology/adventuring/conservationist, or rocket science.
Additional Gameplay Aspects: You should have a large garden where you grow your own produce to cook with. An additional optional challenge would be to make your lot be ‘Off the Grid’ by using the lot trait to truly rebel against your parents love of technology.
Spouse/Partner: You have a happy, traditional and loving marriage to your partner.
Generation 4: The Artist
One of your favorite things to do growing up was playing with the different pigments of the overrippened fruits and vegetables from your parents’ garden. Your vision for your tiny house is to turn it into the art studio you always longed to have growing up.
Suggested Color: Honeydew - light greenish yellow
Architecture Style: Bohemian
Skills - Your goal is to maximize the following skills: Painting, Flower Arranging and Guitar
Additional skills for extra challenge: Writing, Singing, Photography
Gardening: Flower garden
Career(s): Painter, Education, Critic, Writer
Additional Hobbies: You enjoy and get a kick out of a small practical joke now and then and enjoy causing a little mischief.
Additional Gameplay Aspects: You love going to the festivals in San Myshuno! Especially the Humor & Hijinks festival! Your sim must go to every Humor & Hijinks festival (unless working/giving birth/aging up/etc) and must go to all the other festivals (including the flea market) at least once and whenever invited by a member of the family (so random coworkers and friends can’t make you go every day). If you haven’t been invited to one of the festivals in a full sim week, you must have your sim go to the next one available!
Spouse/Partner: Growing up, you always had a rival in school, someone who you competed against in everything. Once you started spending more time in the city, you started to notice they too liked to come around and enjoy the sites and culture off the different entertainments. After a while of pretending not to notice each other, slowly you start to talk and become friends, and after one night at the Romance festival, you may have found your one true love!
Generation 5: The Health Enthusiast
You struggle with some kind of mental/physical illness as a child and your parents show you how helpful art can be as a therapy. You take these ideas and make them your own as you strive to live as happy and healthy of a lifestyle that you can.
Suggested Color: Rosella - cranberry/burgundy
Architecture Style: Scandinavian or Coastal
Skills - Your goal is to maximize the following skills: Wellness, Fitness and Herbalism
Additional skills for extra challenge: Comedy, Logic
Gardening: Outdoor Retreat plants and herbs, Fruits and Veggies
Career(s): Doctor, Athlete, Education
Additional Hobbies: You enjoy a good round of bowling now and again and take pride in refining your craft.
Additional Gameplay Aspects: You enjoy getting out in nature to reset from the otherwise busy and fast paced world. You should take your family camping at least every other weekend (if not every weekend). You find yourself going to Granite Falls so often that you invest in a special tiny house cabin to stay at in Granite Falls. Alternatively, you can make your home lot tiny home look like it is a mobile home, and create a copy in Granite Falls so that it appears you travel with your tiny home when you go camping.
Spouse/Partner: Growing up, you struggled with your weight and were bullied because of it. As you grew older and learned how to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating right and exercising, you also had to heal your self confidence from this bullying. Years later, you run into your previous bully and call them out for the way they treated you. They have also done some growing and maturing and are deeply sorry and regretful for the way they treated you. You had been in other previous relationships that had failed. This reconnection and reconciliation turns into a budding romance.
