General information:
- This challenge does not include careers (besides those included in aspirations or listed as extra tasks/optional), because most of them don’t really add much to the gameplay. Your sim can do anything they want to for a living: have a career, work part-time jobs, become a freelancer, or just sell anything they can find.
- The description for each generation offers something of a simple character arc, explaining why the sim wants to complete their aspirations. Some aspirations might seem like an odd trio, but if you think about it people rarely have the same goals throughout their whole life!
- The focus is on what the founder/heirs experience in their lives, so this challenge doesn’t offer much in terms of playing a whole family. Feel free to add your own goals for children and spouses. (For more on spouses, see next section.)
- This challenge is designed for those who have all packs, but it is easily customizable if you don’t have them all. Feel free to substitute the parts you don’t have with something from the Leftovers list at the end of the post!
Playing the challenge:
- Start the challenge with a Young Adult sim.
- Your sim should complete one aspiration as a young adult, another one as an adult, and a third one as an elder - the aspirations are listed in the order they should be completed in. Age up your sim when you’ve completed their current aspiration and feel ready to move on to the next one!
- This challenge is meant to play with auto aging OFF for played households. You can decide whether you want unplayed households to have aging off as well. Personally I’d keep it on, and mark any old generations as unplayed so they die naturally after I move onto a new generation.
- In most generations, your sim can remain single or have multiple partners during their life, as long as they produce at least one heir who lives with them! Adoption is also an option. Some aspirations do require your sim to have a life partner, so check out the requirements for each aspiration before you decide. The character arc might also give you an idea for what your sim wants relationship-wise, but feel free to change that.
- A spouse can have a random aspiration, which they don’t need to complete. However, if you want them to have more purpose, you can choose an aspiration for them to complete from the Leftovers list (see the end of the post) or have them reach the top of any career.
- No money cheats!! (Unless you want to set family funds lower at the start of each next generation.)
- I recommend purchasing the satisfaction reward traits as early as possible to get the most use out of them during your sim’s life!
- Feel free to use your imagination to reach the goals. For example, to complete the Grilled Cheese aspiration you need to eat grilled cheese in space - but you don’t have to build your own rocket ship, you can use one at a GeekCon festival!
generation 1
You live a full, fun, wild life in the city, running from one event to the next and trying to experience everything you can. You don’t want to waste your days on doing the same thing over and over again, but the fact is your lifestyle requires quite a bit of money and you’re in need of a job… Becoming a mixologist gives you the best of both worlds; you make money to live your life the way you want, but you’re not missing out on the action either. In your old age, you finally meet the love of your life, someone you wouldn’t mind settling down with… especially if they’re willing to go out and try new things with you sometimes.

generation 2
You are an explorer of the world in every sense of the word, always curious about any new subject you encounter. In your youth, you are too restless to focus on studying and instead give more weight to experience than knowledge. But despite learning much during your great adventures, it begins to bother you that you never completed your studies. It is never too late to learn more and earn a degree!

You devote yourself to science and reach so many goals in life while still young, and everyone expects you to continue achieving greater and greater things all the time… But when you have kids, everything changes. And it’s the most wonderful achievement of your life, no matter what anyone thinks! You are so focused on raising your children that it’s only after they’ve grown that you start to think about the time you have left for yourself… You missed out on romantic relationships while young, but there’s still time to connect with new people and figure out who to spend the rest of your life with.

generation 4
You make your living by doing what you’re best at: working with animals. Your dream since you were little has been to run your own vet clinic, but after burning out on the job that you love, you have to sell your business and find yourself again. You begin to actually enjoy the quiet and solitude of the countryside. To clear your mind, you keep a journal, and soon you realize you actually enjoy writing quite a bit. Later in life you take an interest in archaeology which gives you the opportunity to travel, something you never had time for as the only vet in a small town.

You might officially live in Windenburg, but your real home is the wilderness. You spend most of your time traveling and enjoying everything from warm summer evenings by lakes and rivers to cold mornings on the top of the mountains. It’s only when you get too old to travel that you start to appreciate the nature closer to your house and focus on making it the place where you want to spend the rest of your days.

You focus your energies on taking care of your body, which gives a reason to get up in the morning and goals to work towards. The older you get, the more lonely you feel, though - and you start to think that maybe it’s time to take care of your mind as well, in the form of a new hobby: painting.

Ever since you were a child, you have loved everything to do with making movies, and you’re certain that’s where your career lies. You feel as comfortable in front of the camera as you feel behind it, and while you learn many movie-making skills, becoming an actor/actress is still your biggest dream. But once you’ve achieved all that life has to offer, you become bored and there just doesn’t seem to be much of a direction left for your life. Your decisions are not the best, but you do whatever gives you a thrill… and money. Lots of it. Who cares if others get hurt, as long as you’re living comfortably?
- Aspirations: Master Actor/Actress, Public Enemy, Mansion Baron

Is there anything better than waking up with the rising sun, swimming in the ocean, and cooking a good meal for yourself at the end of a perfect day on the beach? Well, probably cooking a good meal for a whole lot of people! You often invite your friends over to taste whatever it is you’ve decided to cook or bake, and more often than not they praise the exquisite flavors and encourage you to become a professional cook. For the longest time you feel there’s nothing more you could want, but after you’ve lived most of your life in the beautiful Sulani you begin to wonder if completely different surroundings might have something to offer you as well…

You seem to have an innate ability of mastering any instrument with ease, and to receive recognition for this only makes the fire inside you burn brighter. But one tragic thing has always shadowed your success: being mortal. (Or is it just that you’re too arrogant to accept that you might die just like everyone else…?) You’re ready to go to any lengths to preserve your genius skills, even if it means becoming a vampire. The world cannot lose a masterpiece like you!

Once you learn of the eco crisis, though, you’re itching to make the world a better place for everyone again…

You love modern technology: It has the power to bring people together, it offers so many new ways of channeling creativity, and there’s never a boring moment in your life. Or at least that’s how you thought it would go when you were younger… In truth, after a while you wish for something more profound, something that would change your life completely. One day, while browsing some obscure site, you come across a subject that catches your attention: magic. It seems exactly like the change you are looking for, so you pack your bags and move to Glimmerbrook. In the city, you were always surrounded by people in some way - via technology or otherwise - but now you feel rather lonely and for the first time ever you even consider having a family.
